Construtora Camargo Corrêa's scholarship program in Angola has graduated many students in Marketing, Business Administration and Civil and Environmental Engineering. The program started selecting students in 2008 and sent, in 2009, the students chosen to graduate in Brazil, more specifically at the Unilins University, in the city of Lins, São Paulo.
Construtora Camargo Corrêa has just launched the University Challenge, an initiative aimed at finding innovative ideas to make the concrete cycle more productive.
Open for graduation or post-graduation students, the challenge works with three different themes:
- new construction methodologies,
- new materials,
- new techniques for planning and monitoring works.
Época magazine and PwC elected Construtora Camargo Corrêa as one of the 20 companies in the country with the best environmental practices.
For the second consecutive year, the company received the Época Green Company award, during a ceremony held on Monday (Sep. 23) in São Paulo, at the auditorium of Editora Globo.
The 120 schools of the city of Campina Grande, in Paraíba, which participate in the Topper Program of Education through Sports – developed by Alpargatas Institute -, will now also receive the Education through Culture Program.
The action seeks to offer continuous improvements to the region's public school system, and applies, at first, the Capoeira at School Project. Performed during school hours, for an extended period, the initiative stimulates students to stay at the school full time.
In addition, the Program fosters interdisciplinarity, social inclusion and multiculturality, implementing several teaching methodologies that respect the diversity of the communities where it operates.
In 2013, InterCement has invested in partnerships and projects aimed at improving its efficiency and seeking sustainable solutions for its business chain. In April, the company became the sponsor of a research center for sustainable construction at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (Poli-USP).
The research project, which focuses on the civil construction industry and has investments of R$ 5 million, develops pioneer studies on eco-efficient concrete, which has low environmental impact, with significant reductions on the emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere and power consumption.
Employees of Construtora Camargo Corrêa participated as volunteers of another joint effort to revitalize schools, which between September 21 and 22 benefited the Cândida Maria school, in Guajará Mirim, state of Rondônia.
In all, 22 volunteers of the company attended the event with the goal of contributing to the revitalization of the school and counted on help from teachers, students, people from the community and junior firefighters.
Quinta do Sumidouro and Fidalgo are communities located in Pedro Leopoldo-MG, and which, despite being small, have a remarkable culture and many stories. With the purpose of registering the life stories of residents and the region, the Person Museum, Camargo Corrêa Institute (ICC) and InterCement created a project for the region’s cultural memory.
The initiative, which is being conducted with the support of the Culture Department, the Sumidouro State Park and the community, will register in videos testimonials of the lives of people who know the history of the municipality and linked to traditional Brazilian cultures. The goal is to bring the regional culture of the Congado closer to the communities surrounding InterCement’s cement plant.
The Agri-sustainable Cooperative of União Bandeirantes (Unicoop) made the first delivery of bananas to Jirau Hydro Plant, on September 13, marking another step of the Banana Cultivation Entrepreneurship Time – a partnership of Construtora Camargo Corrêa, Camargo Corrêa Institute, SEBRAE Nacional, SEBRAE Rondônia and BNDES.
The delivery concluded the cycle of the banana production chain after 3 years of project and following several qualification efforts developed with members of the cooperative, preparing them to produce in a sustainable and ecologically correct way. In all, 2,500 kilos of bananas were delivered in Jirau.
Today, September 17, marks the opening of photographic exhibition Amazônia Andes: da foz à Nascente, do Atlântico ao Pacífico (Amazonia Andes: from the mouth to the spring, from Atlantic to Pacific), which marks the launch of the namesake book, created from images registered by photographer and documentary maker José Paulo Tezza and sponsored by Construtora Camargo Corrêa, through the Ministry of Culture under the Rouanet Law.
The material will be exhibited at the headquarters of the Amazonas Sustentável Foundation, in Manaus, until October 18. The book and the exhibition invite for a reflection on economic, environmental, historic, social and ethnic aspects of the Amazonia-Andes integration.
A ceremony held on Monday, September 16, in Porto Alegre, marked the conclusion of the P-55 platform by Quip – a company of Camargo Corrêa Group specialized in EPC for offshore platforms. The event was attended by the president of Petrobrás, Maria das Graças Foster, and president Dilma Rousseff.
A work included in the Growth Acceleration Plan (PAC) of the federal government, P-55 is the largest semisubmersible oil platform completely built in Brazil. With capacity to produce 180 thousand oil barrels and 4 million cubic meters of natural gas per day, P-55 will be anchored at a 1,795 meters depth and will have, in all, 17 wells linked to it.
