The Alpargatas Institute believes that reading takes people to new horizons. So, it supported the I Children's Book Week, "The wonderful and fabulous in children's literature", organized by the Municipal Secretariat for Education of Campina Grande (PB).

Between April 15 and 19, 120 public schools from the city participated in the itinerant event, stimulating the practice of reading in 25 thousand students.

The closing of the week was on April 21, with community action Sunday at the Park, a partnership between Sesi and TV Paraíba, in which the Alpargatas Institute promoted the project "Reading: pleasure and knowledge", with a large circle of students and teachers telling stories.

On the same day, the Alpargatas Institute and the Municipal Secretariat for Education also made available a toy room and organized sports activities, in addition to capoeira and graffiti workshops for 30,400 people.

"Events like this publicize the teaching practices promoted by the institute, inside the schools, and disseminate educational actions to the community as a whole", reinforces Berivaldo Araújo, the organization's CEO.
