Teachers and educators from 13 municipalities in Brazil will be at São Paulo Library, in the city’s North Zone, tomorrow, May 24, to meet the winners of the Reading Journey Award 2013, organized by Camargo Corrêa Institute, Alpargatas Institute, and the Center for Studies and Research on Education, Culture, and Community Action (Cenpec).

The Reading Journey awarded municipal Education agencies and teachers in recognition of best practices to encourage reading, developed by educators from municipalities participating in the Ideal School program, from Camargo Corrêa Institute. The awarded teachers will win a tablet, and agencies will receive a notebook and a projector.

“We believe that the award’s importance is to shed light on good projects that encourage reading that already take place in cities and can inspire teachers from other states and cities in the country”, said Toni Niccolini, coordinator of the Camargo Corrêa Institute.

About the Reading Journey Award

The Reading Journey Award is a part of project “Reading: Pleasure and Wisdom”, developed by Camargo Corrêa Institute in 13 cities in the states of Minas Gerais, Paraíba, Rondônia, and São Paulo. The project has provided training on reading mediation for teachers of municipal basic education schools, and donated a mobile library with a special collection of about 150 titles for each school. The Reading Journey Award aims to directly contribute to improving the quality of education, and is aligned with the National Plan on Books and Reading (PNLL -  www.pnll.gov.br).
