The initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of preventive examination for breast cancer, a disease that affects about 50,000 women per year in Brazil. "For CCDI, health and well-being of people are essential. Information is an ally in the fight against breast cancer. We want to help to spread the idea that prevention is an essential part of fighting breast cancer", said Ricardo Fonseca, Human Resources superintendent at CCDI.
Valéria Baraccat Gyy, who founded the institute in 2009 after a fight of five years against breast cancer, will discuss in her lecture the importance of quality of life in cancer prevention. "Exercise and healthy diet fight not only breast cancer, but also diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure, which also kill. Small changes in daily habits can completely change people's health and help them to prevent these diseases", Valéria explains.
She acknowledges CCDI adherence to the event to help to spread the knowledge, and explains that breast cancer can be cured in 95% of cases when diagnosed early. "So, what's in breast cancer? Lack of information. The more information people have, the better prevention they engage in", she says.
