The refectories of the Jirau Hydroelectric Plant worksite started to use, this year, reusable cups to replace the disposable ones. The action by Construtora Camargo Corrêa has already avoided the disposal of 100 thousand cups per day. Currently, 35 thousand reusable cups are used in the worksite's refectories.

According to administrative assistant Valdir Araújo, the adoption of reusable cups had been studied for some time. "The polypropylene cups have specific equipment for efficient cleaning and a longer useful life. We went to great lengths to implement them at the cafeterias", he notes.

Administrative coordinator Roberto Paulino Barreiro stresses the cost decrease that the reusable cups will bring to the worksite. "They are very durable and will generate significant savings for the works", he states.

In addition to high durability, the material of the reusable cups, polypropylene, is a plastic that is resistant to impacts and shattering, in addition to being recyclable.
