Professionals from Construtora Camargo Corrêa, who work on the construction sites for project Vila do Mar and Beira Mar, in Fortaleza (CE), received customized mugs to replace disposable cups. The initiative is part of the internal campaign for reducing residues and has the purpose of contributing to a more sustainable construction work. Before the mugs, about 12,500 disposable cups were used in the project per month.

Visitors will still use disposable cups, which will be collected and washed afterwards. This material will serve as vases for planting native species with soil collected on the worksite, sieved and mixed with agricultural substrate and organic matter.

This project also includes the possibility of giving lectures about reusing disposable cups, consumerism, and the importance of planting seedlings to those who are interested.

In the cafeterias at the Jirau Hydroelectric Plant worksite, in Porto Velho (RO), employees use returnable cups, which replaced the disposable ones. The action by Construtora Camargo Corrêa has prevented the disposal of 100,000 cups/day since the beginning of 2013. Currently, the worksite uses approximately 35,000 returnable cups.
