The Ideal Volunteer Action Group (Gaiv) “Leitura na Praça”, formed by employees of InterCement – a holding company for the cement business of Camargo Corrêa Group – in São Miguel dos Campos city, Alagoas state, began its activities with about 120 children from the Municipal Public School Maria Rosa. Actions to encourage reading are held with the broad community, which meets for about two hours at uptown Padre Cicero Square.

This action aimed to encourage young people and children to get involved with literature through playful activities. So, 23 volunteers held reading circles, read classical tales in costumes, and engaged in other activities such as theater plays, reading on the web, educational games, children’s plays and even gymnastics.

“I am very happy for helping in this special day. Feeling the affection of children and kindling their interest in reading was a great satisfaction”, said Ferreira Valdinete, support assistant and member of GAIV, who attended the activity held on April 20.
