The initial portion of the first pipeline in the world to transport exclusively ethanol is completely buried along the 207 kilometers separating Ribeirão Preto (SP), the major producer, and Paulínia (SP), the largest fuel distribution center in the country. With the timetable strictly met by the Ethanol Consortium, led by Construtora Camargo Corrêa, the portion will be inaugurated and come into pre-operation in March 2013, being ready to transport the ethanol produced in the next sugarcane crop, started in April.

When finished, the enterprise will transport through more than 1.3 thousand kilometers of pipelines, by 2016, the sugarcane ethanol between the producing and consuming centers of Goiás, Minas Gerais, São Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro.

Right from the start of the operation between Ribeirão Preto and Paulínia, the ethanol may arrive to Rio de Janeiro through a connection with pipelines of Petrobras, which is already participating in the project. The ethanol pipeline should transport more than 20 billion liters per year, with tank storage capacity of 1.2 billion liters when the work is completed.
