Event mobilizes the population for the rights of children and adolescents

The community of Jaci-Paraná, a district of Porto Velho city, RO, received an action aimed at strengthening the rights of children and adolescents in last Sunday, February 24. The event was organized by group "Aqui, Jaci Fala", and gathered about one hundred people who joined ball and badminton games, workshops on art, dancing, and typical food.

The action was held at the administrative square of Jaci-Paraná, which has broad space and promotes sports and other entertainment activities. "This is an opportunity to use the space in a healthy way, having fun while also sensitizing residents on a subject that is extremely important", says Cristiane Tessaro, HR supervisor at Camargo Corrêa. Workshops, and Radio Soaps and Spots produced by the children were also part of the event.

The action is part of project Communication and Mobilization to Prevent Sexual Violence, and aims to raise awareness of young people living in the vicinity of Jirau Hydroelectric Plant about combating child sexual exploitation.

The event is sponsored by Construtora Camargo Corrêa in partnership with Camargo Corrêa Institute, Oficina de Imagens and Center for Defense of Children and Adolescents Maria dos Anjos (CDCA). Group "Aqui, Jaci Fala" is formed by children and adolescents aged 9 to 18 who attend workshops of Ideal Childhood Program.

Project Communication and Mobilization to Prevent Sexual Violence aims to spread contents related to the creation of identity and memory of young people, and to bring light to the Statute of Children and Adolescents, to the community's participation and social mobilization to prevent the several kinds of violence against young people.
