The Ideal Volunteer Action Group (GAIV) "Educando e Cuidando", formed by employees of InterCement in Campo Formoso, BA, organized a major crowd work to clean Vila dos Sonhos Pond. The action was held on February 23 and gathered over 250 volunteers, who worked with the support of buckets trucks, trailers, loaders and backhoes made available by the city government and local businesses.

In four hours of work, over 20 tons of waste were removed (civil construction waste), along with 2 tons of other waste (paper, plastic, wood). The cleaning was the first step of a project to transform the Lagoa dos Sonhos in a major recreation area with sports court, playground, biking and walking lanes.

Rodrigo Henriques, manager of InterCement's unit in Campo Formoso and member of GAIV, says this is only the first step, since the group has already found other situations where volunteers can act. "Everyone is proud of the work done by volunteers and of the final results as well", says Henriques.

Ideal Volunteer program was started by Camargo Corrêa Institute to create opportunities for employees of Camargo Corrêa Group to contribute to the common development of municipalities where they live and work. The program also allows the participation of employees' family members.
