Havaianas celebrates the Australia Day with a buoy contest on the beachesMonday, January 28, 2013 - 16:43
Havaianas held the eighth edition of Australia Day Thong Challenge to gather the largest number of people with inflatable buoys shaped as Havaianas flip-flops on a beach. The event was held for the "Australia Day", celebrated on Saturday, January 26.
Areas were used for the event in southern Australia, and thousands of people came to five cities. Each location had water toys, competitions, and people carrying their giant inflatable Havaianas flip-flops.
The brand’s stores in the country received in January a special decoration: waves formed by blue pairs of the flip-flops. The action on such a special date was a tribute to Australia’s crystalline waves and seas.
Celebrated every year on 26 January, the "Australia Day" marks the arrival of the first British fleet to Oceania in 1788. It is the most expected holiday of the Australian calendar.
