New York is the new focus of Brazilian brand Havaianas. With the arrival of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, the company has just opened the first temporary store in America.

Located in Meatpacking District, at the exit of a popular park with many tourists, the unit will be open until the end of September.

With temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius, the demand for Havaianas is also hot, say storekeepers. “The tourists get tired of walking and want the flip-flops. There are also the customers on high-heel shoes who go to the bars and leave with their feet tired”, says a seller.

The store has about the same models found in Brazil. There are more than 15 colors of strips and 15 colors of soles available, and they can range from US$ 14 (about R$ 38) to US$ 150 (R$ 320) – the latter with crystals hand-embroidered by artisans from Northeastern artisans.

And to further sophisticate the combination, the brand offers 30 pins that can be attached to the strips. Some of them are not available in Brazil, such as yellow cabs and Statues of Liberty.

Camargo Corrêa Group operates in apparel, footwear, and accessories through Alpargatas S.A., which manages brands associated with innovation, design, technology, and communication: Havaianas, Dupé, Topper, Rainha, Mizuno, Timberland, and Sete Léguas.
