Doing Good Day in Pernambuco will revitalize schools, a nursing home, and a rehabilitation center for children

Four companies of the Camargo Corrêa Group prepare charitable activities in the municipalities of Ipojuca, Cabo de Santo Agostinho, and Paulista

Four companies of the Camargo Corrêa Group prepare special actions to in Pernambuco to celebrate the sixth edition of the Doing Good Day, on August 24th. The corporate volunteer event, which gathers all of the companies of the Camargo Corrêa Group, will be held in the municipalities of Ipojuca, Cabo de Santo Agostinho, and Paulista, in the state of Pernambuco.

Employee volunteers from InterCement, theirs family members and friends will carry out structural renovations and improve conditions of safety and health at the Escola Municipal José Clarindo Gomes (José Clarindo Gomes Municipal School). The Lar da Criança Charnequinha, Creche Charnequinha and Pontes dos Carvalhos Maternity Hospital will also receive renovation services. The multi-sport court of the Escola Conde da Boa Vista (Conde da Boa Vista School) will be renovated and will get a new paint job, plus the bathrooms of the central building will be refurbished.

Continuing the action started in 2013, volunteers from the Oil and Gas Refinery job site will repair the Abrigo de Idosos São Francisco de Assis. For Sunday, August 24th, entertainment activities, games and a beauty salon were organized. Additionally, there will be donation drives for food and utensils for the Nursing Home.

In Paulista, volunteers from Santista (Tavex Corporation) refurbished the mothers welcome room of the Centro Regional de Ensino e Reabilitação (Center) [Regional Center for Education and Rehabilitation (Center)]. The volunteers will also perform janitorial services and painting. The majority of students served by the Center do not attend regular school, because they have been diagnosed as having severe and/or moderate mental retardation. On Sunday, a series of fun and educational activities with the children is being organized, including painting, games and snacks.

Volunteers from the Atlântico Sul Shipyard (EAS), in Ipojuca, are planning actions with public school children on the importance of preserving the environment.

The Doing Good Day is an annual event organized by the Camargo Corrêa Institute (ICC) since 2009. In 2014, a total of 13 companies present in 15 countries are participating in the Doing Good Day. Around 22,000 volunteers are expected to be involved.

About the Doing Good Day

This is an initiative of the Ideal Voluntário ("Ideal Volunteer") program run by the Camargo Corrêa Institute, which encourages volunteerism among employees of the companies that comprise the Camargo Corrêa Group. Its main objectives are to contribute to a good relationship between the company and its employees and the community; to articulate with the public sector, private sector, and civil society; to identify talents within the company and in the community; and to celebrate the completion and/or the start of volunteer actions.
