The City of Laguna offers another tourist attraction

The new point of craftsmanship sale in Laguna, developed by Camargo Corrêa Institute, Ponte de Laguna Consortium and BNDES, will generate income for local craftsmen.

Laguna will gain a new tourist attraction in December, and local craftsmen will be provided with a fully revitalized space to exhibit and sell their products. The House of Arts will gather different types of craft produced by local artists that depict the culture and customs of the municipality of Laguna, Santa Catarina.

The building of the city's old power station was donated by the Municipal Government after going through a restoration process to become the marketing point for three craftsman associations. The restoration and opening of the House resulted from the Arts Consortium project, a partnership between Camargo Corrêa Institute, the National Economic and Social Development Bank (BNDES by the Portuguese initials) and the Ponte de Laguna Consortium, formed by Camargo Corrêa, Aterpa M. Martins and Construbase.

Besides opening the Arts House, the project will invest in equipment items and will qualify the members of the associations that will manage the point of sale. Craftsmen are already participating in design workshops, co-operative activities and production process techniques, including strategies for participating and organizing economy solidarity fairs.
